Onobrychis viciifolia is a Perennial growing to 1 m (3ft 3in).
It is in flower from May to September. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Bees.The plant is not self-fertile.
Suitable for: light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils, prefers well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil. Suitable pH: neutral and basic (alkaline) soils and can grow in very alkaline soils.
It cannot grow in the shade, and prefers moist soil.
Presoak the seed for 12 hours in warm water before sowing in situ in spring or autumn.
